WATCHING TOO MUCH OF ACTION MOVIES CAN GET YOU KILLED: WAYS MOVIES POTRAY FIRE FIGHT WRONG.

Everybody watch action movies like that of Sylvester Stallone whereby the possession of an automatic weapon turn a mere man into one army spraying bullet at trained killers. That’s very much unwholesome. The portrayal in movies are a way to big to realize that gun shoot out are more ferocious than you think. Imagine spilling the content of an MG for 7 minutes non-stop. That's only possible in movies not reality.
I am not criticizing Sylvester Stallone but I am trying to make clear what real shoot-out look like in real life situation. Movies machine guns can turn anybody into one-man-army-Just stick one in the hands of a protagonist and multiple platoons of trained soldiers are mowed down like weeds.

Sure! You must have watched one of those action movies where the protagonist hold a M60 at the hip and spill the whole content of the nozzle to his enemies for 5 minutes. In reality if you do that the gun explode and then you die.
A trained experience Combat Veteran explained that.
" Each time any gun fires, the barrel heats up a little bit, After all the bullet is being propelled by a tiny explosion and its creating a serious friction all the way down the barrel. If you keep shooting  ( Passing a lot of bullet in a row ) without giving it a chance to cool down, the whole gun gets damned hot, so hot that it will eventually start igniting the bullets without waiting for the trigger to be pulled"
Literally that means that you are now holding a possessed machine gun that is randomly spraying bullets on its own, of course its going to hit you too. I can recall that while I was a kid, my dad a war veteran  in Nigeria once told me that during one of their bloody battles, Their rifles got so hot that they al had to use their camou-cap to hold it, if not the heat will ruin ones hands.
That is to say Those guys in the movies don’t use Rules Of Engagement (R.O.E). There is a technique used in handling machine guns. Just like in music where we have talking drums. There is also something called gun talking. Using the cliché of the popular Yoruba drum gangan. Set of gangan drummers don’t just drum at the same time at times but they do some break and halts and takeovers.
So for the Military too. In reality combat units that have MG handlers as members. They just shoot at once in unision but this what they do. Example a combat team with 4 MG handlers and a bunch of rifle men normally do their drum talking routine in this way during attacks.
M.gunner 1 fires a short burst and then stops
M.gunner2 takeover and give its own short burst
M.gunner 3 fires and then the turn goes back to M.gunner 1 to complete his routine.
This process is just to make sure nobody gun melts. The primary use of the weapons at that staging is taking advantage of the fact that they are scary. Then they "talk" their way through the firefight in short bursts while the rest of the team (riflemen) advances. Then if things go sour and everybody has to retreat, that’s when everyone goes full auto again to cover.
* DURING GUN FIGHTS YOU CAN HARDLY HEAR A THING.
don’t believe those crazy movies when people are in metal hallway, ripping out rounds while talking, like all they have to do is let goof the trigger long enough to have a casual conversation.
Guns are damned Loud.
Grenades can destroy your ear drums.
Artillery fire are damned ridiculous .
After each explosion, you will keep hearing echo dangling hell in your head. I see movies where somebody tries to disarm an assailant welding a pistol. The two of them end up wrestling for control of the pistol thus shooting mostly at the thin air thus exhausting the cartridge. In reality, the sound of a gunshot can cripple the disarmer during the struggles thus giving the assailant an upper hand and the victim ending up remaining a victim. Gun shot are fucking loud! No wonder the  major health effect  of war among the veterans apart from  Post Traumatic Disorder(P.T.S.D) is deafness.
* How many movies have you seen portray short breaks during battles. None! What you see is just sporadic shootings from the protagonist and cool moves. One  armored division vets said that he once drove his tank blindly into a position that he couldn’t determine what fires were hitting his team tank. Whether enemies fire or friendlies because he was out of communication with others and every where is damned smoky, he suppose he must have been separated by his flock but he couldn’t verify. So he had to wait and receive fire for long minutes without firing back. Imagine that kind of pause in battles, but what we see in action movies are just action!action!action! Spare historical one for now.

How many times have movies portray a protagonist take some break during shoot out to Piss or vindicate the toilet? No answer unh! Don’t let Movies and game play ruin your head. Be wise. Gunfights are more than what you think. Get a life Mr. Man.
