The Importance of Physical Fitness in High-Stress Situations ;WHY DO THEY SURVIVE?

Every day, Hollywood bombards us with action movies depicting stories that often go like this: An ex-soldier or ex-CIA agent goes back home to enjoy his family, but someone from his past, such as a drug lord he busted undercover or a terrorist leader he killed with his sniper, may be on the verge of trailing him. The bombardment begins when he receives a call from an unknown number. BOOM! Wham! RPGs bring down his house. Shrapnel pierces his children's hearts, his grandpa is dead, his wife is already in flames, and he himself is severely injured. But it's not over yet - these bad guys come in to finish off any surviving family members. The ex-soldier is still alive, probably with his half-burnt wife, and then the bad guys come to finish them all. The next day, the news headlines read: "Ex-soldier's home attacked, with everybody dead except the ex-soldier, who is in critical condition." Then, to make the movie seem more interesting, the ex-soldier comes back with more action for revenge.

What am I saying in essence? Though this is just a movie, these things do happen in reality. Call me a liar, and I will tell you to go ask people who have worked as spies for the CIA, KGB, NID, and other intelligence agencies. Sometimes, successful operations they engage themselves in backfire, and their family lives have to be ransomed for it, as they will survive.

Here's the logic behind why they survive. Apart from the fact that whoever God says will survive an attack, no matter how many bullets you shoot at them, they will not die. However, I just want to talk about the surviving ex-soldier. To start, this ex-soldier is an example of a man who has gone through tough and horrific training, experienced live combat and gone on war tours, and visited enemy zones as a spy. He has faced extreme circumstances that almost cost him his life.

There is one thing I want you to know about his body system. His body has turned into a robot that follows the theory of "c'mon men, I survived the last two war tours, so this one too is not an exception." His adrenaline system is now very much adapted to troublesome situations, unlike his wife (pardon me), who stays at home with kids and deals with electronics that almost do all the house chores. Cars take her everywhere, and she has never trekked the way her husband did when he escaped from enemy countries and had to move from state to state mostly on foot. His wife's system is not the kind that can easily adapt to life-threatening situations or fit into troublesome situations. You can definitely see that there are huge differences between them.

The lesson I want you readers to learn is that you should train your body to be agile and smart. You should not be the lackey idiot sitting with the computer system spending your entire lifetime on the social network or gaming. Your ass should not be accustomed to sitting in the office and driving in cars. You should create avenues for exercise, martial arts, go to the gym and make sure you do all things to stay fit. Science tells us that during evolution, man grew from a bent creature into a straight walking creature, but right now, because of the advent of technology, man is returning back to that bent position through sitting all day long. Give your body tough times too and don't make it too familiar with pleasures and excessive comfort.

Therefore, it is essential to train your body to be agile and smart. Don't be the lackey idiot sitting in front of a computer screen or spending your entire lifetime gaming. Your body should not be accustomed to sitting in an office or driving in cars. You should create avenues for exercise, martial arts, and go to the gym to stay fit.

Science tells us that during evolution, humans grew from a bent creature into a straight walking creature. However, due to the advent of technology, humans are returning back to that bent position through sitting all day long. Give your body tough times too and don't make it too familiar with pleasures and excessive comfort.

Sometimes I do see fat, potbellied military or police officers, and I know these are the type of police officers that, when they can't chase thieves, they resort to shooting them dead. A common example of this is mostly in African countries. In the military academy, you will see fresh men thin and gaunt looking because of the rigorous training they undergo. But immediately after they graduate to become commissioned officers, they relax too much and order the non-commissioner soldiers to do the dirty job since they are now in charge of administration.

To conclude my blog post, whether you are military or civilian, you have to stay fit every time because too much pleasure kills. When the going gets tough, the tough get going! Train your body to adapt to situations, and you will be able to survive any unexpected attack or threat. Stay safe!
