THE MOMENT WHERE FIGHT TO DEATH IS YOUR ONLY MEANS OF SURVIVAL

for fight to death quotesOkay, this is not a martial art blog but a military one, but anything goes here as long as it is military related. Yeah I repeat martial art is related to the military, you should know that in courses Special Forces take and even the regular force.
However martial art is not just for men of war, it’s for everybody who values it. It’s been practiced all over the world. Many schools in China, India and mostly America the best market for the art and then few in my country here Nigeria. Increasing Terrorist attack and insecurity is causing people to take martial art classes. There are many martial artist masters but am not fortunate to be a master, many YouTube videos have provided martial art master to portray their technique more effective than their counterparts, without me digressing too much, Terrorist attack and mass shooting is getting more alarming even to the most unlikely countries where no one believe could happen .Self-defense and security consciousness is needed for every individual to prepare for the worst. In this article I want to treat an aspect that has to do with what to do in a close encounter with the attacker and as for the title above:

What is the right moment where fight to death is the only means of survival or an advantage. Answer: when all odds are against you.
1.       PRETENDING TO BE DEAD: This art of defense is good, cunning and popular. effective if well played, funny enough some martial artist implore people to pretend to be dead amidst other dead bodies in a mass shooting or kidnapping spree but how good is that. In the Al-Noor terrorist attack in New Zealand attack, if you were able to watch the live video before the social media start deleting them, you will realize this technique doesn’t work in this scenario, the attacker (Breton Tarrant) was a mad man so over determined that he went into the AL Noor mosque twice to shoot all the dead bodies he once killed; such a heartless man. Anyone who applied the law of pretending to die is indirectly making the pretense a reality because Tarrant will sure come back after a round of shooting to shoot the dead bodies. The only art possible there is fighting to death; unfortunately the attack came as a surprise because no one in the mosque or nobody in Zealand expects a terrorist attack including me. The attack was too fast for any hero to think and rise, everyone was crippled with fear.
However nobody is in any position to criticize any of the victims for not devising a means to fight back simply because being you are not there to witness the horrific event that can make you mess up your trousers.
Kudos to that guy at Linwood Mosque, he threw something at the attacker, he deserve a medal honor.
The only solution depends on the situation, if the scenario provide for pretense especially if the goal of the mass shooter is to kill as many as possible which is not to come and check whether any survived.so the chance of pretense is good here, but as I said earlier, am not a master, access your situation first.

2.       FIGHTING BACK OR SUICIDAL ATTACK: okay how about fighting back, if I say it depends on your martial art skills, that will be bad because fear can make a martial art lesson disappear in seconds, if I say it depends on your martial art or combat experience, then I may be right, however let consider those with no martial art training. What should they do.
Remembering the 9/11 attack in the USA, one of the planes (flight 93) hijacked heading towards a particular target didn’t go well as expected by the hijackers, why? The passengers knew in through their phones that that morning, Flights 11 and 175 had already crashed into the World Trade Center and Flight 77 was within 9 minutes of striking the Pentagon therefore flight 93 passengers revolted against the hijackers, although they couldn’t save themselves but they were able to give the hijackers a tough time controlling the plane effectively to its target. Out of panic of being run over by the revolting passengers, the hijackers crash-landed the plane into a field in  stone creek Pennsylvania. The act of the passengers made them became heroes.

Another example, in the Ancient Yoruba Kingdom in Nigeria, Warriors and Kings whenever they become betrayed and sold-out by somebody close to them, although dying, stabbed, poisoned, shot they make sure they finish up the traitor and then give up.
That’s the warrior mentality you should have in critical situation, and you may feel like what if I die, also think of what if you win. However this just an advice ascertain the situation and don’t forget the S.E.R.E survival Evasion Resistance and Escape. I remain Afolabi Micheal.

Key Lessons the Church Should Learn from the Military (a must read to all Christians)

Hi guys i created this post to wish the christian brothers a happy christmas.
lets go!!!!!
Key Lessons the Church Should Learn from the Military
Image result for christian soldier
1. Breathtaking Trainings: In the military, once you're marked for recruitment, you go through several screenings marked by severe trainings.
Nobody recruits or gives you uniform or a gun until you prove fit and capable both intellectually and physically. You must drop the civilian mindset and carry the military attitude. How much pain can you take? If you don't succeed in these trainings you can't become a military man.In church however, when someone gives his life to Christ, we shout Hallelujah and let him go. We forget that at that moment he's signed up for war and needs to be equipped. He needs the shield of faith and the sword of the word to fight but he has none because we gave him none. Many new believers don't know where to read in the Bible let alone understanding it or even knowing how to pray. Satan, knowing that he's ignorant begins to buffet and entice him with his former sins.Unlike the military man who stays in camp with other cadets, the young believer is thrown right back to the ocean of worldliness and left alone without help. No wonder, many new believers never grow from infancy. Many of our new believers eventually go back to their sins though still coming to church. It is better not to win souls than win them and never disciple them

2. Uniform: a military man never jokes with his uniform. He's told that once he becomes a military man, he's no longer a civilian and should not mingle with civilian affairs. The scripture emphasize this, "No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer." (2 Timothy 2:4)In the Church however, only very few churches and believers have uniforms that differentiate them from civilians (unbelievers). The dressing, attitude, dreams and mindset of the modern day believer, the choir or usher or prayer leader in church isn't different from that of the pop star. Same dressing, same haircut or hairdo, same make-up, same way of thinking. There seems to be no difference between the Christian soldier and the unbeliever (civilian)

3. Obey the Last Order: the military trusts the boss with his life, that's why you don't argue with your commanding officer; whatever he tells you, you do. This brings decorum in the army. The church however is filled with arrogant and rebellious soldiers. When the pastor speaks you see some people whispering to their friends "he doesn't know what he's saying." when God made the ten commandments maany christians still despise it saying it is too strict or archaic so many christians violate God rules and when God speaks to them they refuse to listen." If you do that in the army, you're a piece of cake. There are too many people who know too much in church and that causes confusion

4. Save your Comrade: when a soldier is hit by a bullet, someone else quickly covers his position while another does everything to salvage his life. If it takes carrying the wounded on the shoulder and run in the midst of flying bullets, he does it without hesitation.
You don't leave a wounded soldier in battle; every man fights and dies for each other Let's come to the Christ soldiers, when a brethren falls into sin, for example, a brother is arrested for rape or fraud, he's wounded but instead of quickly rallying around him, covering his wounds, and fighting for him through prayer and fasting, we are the first to shout "let him bear the consequence of his sin. He's a hypocrite" and so on. Even in the kingdom of darkness, they fight for each other but in our kingdom, we stab each other's back. It is in Christendom that you see a pastor criticising another in public. Every man is fighting for himself and not for others. We need to change
5. Life-Contract: when you sign up in the military, it means you've agreed to give up your life for the course. It's as simple as that. The military man always have it in mind that every battle might be his last. He's not afraid to die because he knows that's what he signed for In the Christian army, many are not even aware that signing up for Christ is agreeing to fight and die for him. Paul mentioned this when he said what shall separate us from the love of Christ? He mentioned terrible things such as tribulation, famine and death, knowing that all these things are part of the package.

Christianity is a war against the host of darkness, not a picnic or holiday Today, many preachers tell their congregation that there is no war any more because Jesus had fought and won on the wars. Whereas Paul said, "the weapon of our warfare are not canal but mighty to the pulling down of stronghold." He also said, "for we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers." The Christ soldier must be ready to give his life and everything he has for the course of the gospel. Many people never takes church or prayer seriously because they are not aware that we're at war front  the military could keep their standard till this day, nothing stops the Christ Army from not just taking a clue from the military but also holding their grounds. Our defense line has been bridged because we have become too civilian-like. We are soldiers and must continue to act like one. Jesus, our commanding officer is counting on us. We cannot afford to let him down God bless you

Porn in the military: How explicit content may be harming military culture.

Right off the bat, we want to make it clear that the purpose of this article is not to infer that those who watch porn will become violent criminals. There is simply no way to know if watching pornography will give someone the motivation to rape, murder, or anything else for that matter. The purpose of this article to talk about what we do know, and to talk about what science and research are telling us about how porn can worsen already toxic situations.
_________________
Brigadier General Jeffrey Sinclair was a decorated combat veteran of the United States Army. A former deputy commander of the U.S. forces in Afghanistan, Sinclair was a rising star. He was powerful, successful, and respected. However, all this came to a screeching halt when a subordinate officer accused him of forcible sexual misconduct and sexual assault. Then, investigators discovered over 8,500 pornographic photos and 600 sexually explicit videos on Sinclair’s personal electronic devices. He was found guilty of the accusations and suffered a humiliating demotion and forced retirement as a result.
Unfortunately, Sinclair’s crimes are not an outlier; in fact, they demonstrate a growing problem in our military’s culture. In 2013, the United States Armed Forces found itself in the midst of somewhat of a crisis. This wasn’t a crisis of politics or warfare, rather, they found that many of their soldiers, like Sinclair, were being crippled by rampant pornography habits and sexual assaults. In response, the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights conducted a report investigating this increasingly significant problem.
Included in the report were the results from a 2013 investigation at more than 100 Air Force installations. The Air Force found 631 instances of pornography (magazines, calendars, pictures, videos that intentionally displayed nudity or depicted acts of sexual activity) and 27,598 instances of inappropriate or offensive items (suggestive items, magazines, posters, pictures, calendars, vulgarity, graffiti). And that was just one singular service-wide health and welfare inspection event that was completed in an effort to emphasize an environment of respect, trust, and professionalism in the workplace.

Also, through anonymous surveys and statistical estimations, the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights study concluded that there were over 26,000 sexual assaults among service members in 2012 alone. They found that only 46% of these sexual assaults are reported to the proper authorities, and that, of the victims that report, over 90% were involuntarily discharged from the armed forces.
Most shocking of all, they found that 1 in 4 women in the armed forces had been sexually assaulted, while 4 in 5 had been sexually harassed. To put that in context, this means that a woman in the armed forces is more likely to be sexually assaulted than she is to die in combat.

What’s adding fuel to the fire?

You may be wondering, what could be fueling this culture of victim-shaming and sexual assault? It’s possible that one potential factor adding fuel to the already-burning fire is extreme, violent pornography.
It is not uncommon for military members to come home from a deployment, addicted to pornography. Military spouses often complain about these devastating addictions post-deployment. In fact, in an interview with the Military Times, Navy Lt. Michael Howard, a licensed therapist who works extensively with members of the military, believes that at least 20% of the military struggles with some kind of compulsive use or addiction to online pornography.

For porn consumers, even those that manage to avoid violent material, it’s difficult not to be influenced. Not all porn features physical violence, but even non-violent porn has been shown to have effects on consumers. The vast majority of porn—violent or not—portrays men as powerful and in charge; while women are submissive and obedient.  Watching scene after scene of dehumanizing submission makes it start to seem normal.  It sets the stage for lopsided power dynamics in couple relationships and the gradual acceptance of verbal and physical aggression against women. [3]
Research has confirmed that those who consume porn (even if it’s nonviolent) are more likely to support statements that promote abuse and sexual aggression toward women and girls. [4]

Porn and violence go hand-in-hand

An analysis of 33 different studies found that exposure to non-violent porn measurably increased aggressive behavior, and that consuming violent porn increased even further. These effects include having violent sexual fantasies which can lead to actually committing violent assaults.
On top of that, a recent meta-analysis published in the Journal of Communication is showing concrete evidence that consuming pornography increases the likelihood of physical and verbal sexual aggression. From the combined results of 22 studies in 7 countries, it concluded that consuming pornography strongly increased the likelihood of both verbal and physical sexual assault.

If you’re wondering how sitting in a chair consuming porn can actually change what a person thinks and does, the answer goes back to how porn affects the brain.
Our brains have what scientists call “mirror neurons”—brain cells that fire not only when we do things ourselves, but also when we watch other people do things. This is why movies can make us cry or feel angry or scared. Essentially, mirror neurons let us share the emotion of other people’s experiences as we watch. So when a person is looking at porn, he or she naturally starts to respond to the emotions of the actors seen on the screen. As the consumer becomes aroused, his or her brain gets to work wiring together those feelings of arousal to what is seen happening on the screen, almost as if he or she was actually having the experience.
So if a person feels aroused watching a man or woman get kicked around and called names, that individual’s brain learns to associate that kind of violence with sexual arousal.

The effects are personal

Many among our worldwide supporters are members of the Armed Forces, and they’ve experienced this porn problem firsthand. They’ve reached out to us to share their stories, hoping to create change. This first account is from the wife of a U.S. Marine:
“When my husband was in the Marines, pornography was like a sickness. It was everywhere! Everyone watched it, shared it, and even made homemade videos. I remember one time a couple was having sex where they weren’t supposed to, and, instead of reporting them, the person decided to film the act and share it with everyone. The poor girl was humiliated! She ended up getting in trouble, not the person who filmed and shared it.
There were many times my husband would be in a class and one of his higher-ups would look up videos to watch while they were waiting for someone. Right there on the projector for everyone to watch together. My husband would put his head down, close his eyes, do what he had to do to not engage because obviously, he couldn’t leave the room. His buddies would walk up to him and say. “Check out this video/picture” and then shove their phone in his face. He would push it away and tell them to stop. He got made fun of for it! He was bullied and teased and mocked for not engaging in pornography.
He learned the hard way to not let someone borrow his laptop because, the one time he did, they looked up pornography and almost ruined our laptop with viruses. Fellow Marines were constantly sharing naked pictures of girls. Some would even share naked pictures of their wives! No one stopped it. I guarantee it’s the same in every branch of the military. It’s disgusting how it’s accepted and EXPECTED in the military! They pound into their heads not to drink, not to smoke, be careful with their money, eat healthy, exercise etc. Why aren’t the dangers of pornography also talked about it? It’s not and it should be!”
Here’s another personal account, this time from a member of the U.S. Army. He describes the experiences he had while deployed in Afghanistan and the porn struggle that he eventually developed after repeated exposure to pornography:
“Being in a remote location, thousands of miles away from home with only guys next to you for about 6-8 months takes a lot out of a person. We would share thumb drives, laptops, and magazines filled with pornographic material.
My best friend’s porn was labeled with something that sounded harmless so his wife wouldn’t suspect anything. If you didn’t watch any of this you were considered awkward, and when you are engaged in combat, feeling isolated is not the best feeling. Many times during the day, you get so bored that all there is to do is go to a port-a-potty in 120-degree weather and watch porn on your iPod.
Stories are passed around between guys about their sexual encounters; I would only laugh, but the stories were stuck on my mind which led to imagination, which led to watching porn.
It almost became a routine, a ritual, to go away for a while, watch porn while everyone knew what you were doing, and nothing at all is wrong with it. Trading porn was as common and normal as playing cards. Then came other stories that made me further objectify women. Some guys would have sex with the females back at the main base, other stories surfaced of ‘gang bangs’ going on as well with a particular person. So I would, of course, imagine it, look for the person when we finally got back to the main base, capture the moment retire to somewhere I knew I would be alone and indulge in porn once more.
This was a common theme for all my deployments, one would think that this kind of conduct is impossible in a combat zone, but it is not so; at least not at big high-security base.”

Why this matters

As stated at the beginning of this article, no one is able to say that behind every violent sex crime in the military there is a pornography problem. Clearly, sexual misconduct and violence existed long before explicit magazines and porn sites came into the picture, even in the armed forces.
The purpose of this article is to address the concerning misinformation that says pornography is harmless or there isn’t the necessary “conclusive scientific data” that pornography can fuel sexual misconduct even further.

These arguments contend that pornography actually decreases instances of rape because it is an acceptable sexual outlet. To them, in this specific case, we ask why the Department of Defense would ban pornographic material from bases if it were so “harmless” to soldiers? Is there no connection whatsoever between Sinclair’s thousands of pornographic photos or videos and his sexual assaults? The truth is, there is enough evidence of a causal link between porn and sexual misconduct to make a claim that pornography is harmful and can fuel the issue of sexual assault further, instead of deterring it.

There’s a saying passed around military barracks, that “what happens on deployment, stays on deployment,” as if the consequences of one’s behavior don’t follow you home. Clearly, this is simply not true—the harmful effects of sexual assault and a pornography habit are unavoidable, and not only is it unhealthy for those in the military, it’s harmful to our society.
We’re here to raise awareness on the fact that porn is anything but harmless entertainment, and urge civilians as well as enlisted military to consider the effects before clicking on porn. Fight for and choose real love, instead.

What YOU Can Do

It is clear that porn in the military has become a huge issue, and is likely contributing to harmful behavior. SHARE this article to add your voice to this conversation and spread the word on the harms of pornography.

Spark Conversations

This movement is all about changing the conversation about pornography and stopping the demand for sexual exploitation. When you rep a tee, you can spark meaningful conversation on porn’s harms and inspire lasting change in individuals’ lives, and our world. Are you in?

APPLYING THE SUN TZU ART OF WAR TO DAILY LIFE

Sun Tzu was a legendary military strategist in ancient China and he is the author of the famous book, The Art of War. He was a master of “soft power” and the father of “agile warfare.” Whenever possible, he preferred to win without fighting or, at the very least, to win the easiest battles first.

He wrote, “In war, the victorious strategist only seeks battle after the victory has been won.” He advised his troops to “make your way by unexpected routes and attack unguarded spots.” And he further stated, “Military tactics are like water. For water, in its natural course, runs away from high places and hastens downwards. So, in war, the way is to avoid what is strong and strike at what is weak.”
sunThe teachings of Sun Tzu extend far beyond the field of battle because they are focused on finding the easiest way to achieve a specific goal. His approaches can be applied to everything from business growth and goal setting to weight loss and habit formation.
Let's talk about how to apply military strategy to our daily lives.

The Battle for Better Habits

Too often, we try to build new habits, achieve big goals, and otherwise “win at life” through sheer force. We fight our battles directly and attack the enemy — in this case, our bad habits — at the point where they are strongest.
For example:
  • We try to follow a strict diet while we are out to dinner with friends.
  • We try to write a book in a noisy environment.
  • We try to eat healthy in a house filled with sweets and sugar.
  • We try to do our homework with the television on.
  • We try to concentrate while using a smartphone filled with social media apps, games, and other distractions.
And when we fall off course and fail to achieve our goals, we blame ourselves for “not wanting it badly enough” and for not having enough willpower. In many cases, however, failure is not a result of poor willpower, but a result of poor strategy.
Good military leaders start by winning easy battles and improving their position. They wait until the opposition is weakened and morale is low before they take on their foe directly. Why start a war by fighting battles in areas that are well-defended? Why start new habits in an environment that makes progress difficult?
Sun Tzu would never lead his army into a battle where the terrain was not to his advantage. He would not begin by attacking the point where the enemy is strongest. Similarly, we should make easy improvements to our habits first, build our strength, and establish a better position from which to attack the most difficult changes.

Sun Tzu, Master of Habits

Let's adapt Sun Tzu's teachings to building better habits.
Example 1:
  • Sun Tzu: “You can be sure in succeeding in your attacks if you only attack places which are undefended.”
  • Adapted: “You can be sure in succeeding in your habits if you only build habits which are easy to maintain.”
Example 2:
  • Sun Tzu: “He will win who knows when to fight and when not to fight.”
  • Adapted: “He will improve his behavior who knows which habits to start with and which ones to leave for later.”
Example 3:
  • Sun Tzu: “A clever general, therefore, avoids an army when its spirit is keen, but attacks it when it is sluggish and inclined to return.”
  • Adapted: “A clever person, therefore, avoids the areas where bad habits are strongest, but attacks them where they are weak and easy to change.”

Fight Battles You Are Destined to Win

Becoming better is not simply a matter of willpower or work ethic. It’s also a matter of strategy. What people assume is a lack of willpower or an unwillingness to change is often a consequence of trying to build good habits in bad environments.
  • If you are trying to read more books, don’t do it in a room filled with video games, Netflix, and a television. Move to a less distracting environment.
  • If you’re very overweight, don’t try to follow a workout program for college athletes. You can get there eventually, but that’s not a battle you need to fight right now. Start with a manageable change.
  • If you’re surrounded by people who tear down your goals, then work on your projects in a different location or reach out to like-minded people.
  • If you’re trying to stick to a writing habit when your kids are home from school and your house is in chaos, then work on it at a different time. Switch to a time of less resistance.
Build your habits where it is easy to do so. Re-define the situation. Create a game where the odds are stacked in your favor.
It sounds simple, but how often do you find yourself fighting difficult battles and ignoring easy ones? There is plenty of time to fight the difficult battles. Win the easy battles first.
The smartest path is to improvement is the one of least resistance. Fight battles you are destined to win.

FIRE DISCIPLINE- A MILITARY THEOREM TO APPLY IN EVERYDAY LIFE

Image result for fire discipline

Fire discipline implies firstly, the restraints or self-discipline to open fire at the correct time and place and secondly implicit obedience of fire control for instance, in defence, the enemy will often try to make the defender discloses his position by sending out patrols to draw his fire, it is important that the defenders should not open fire on such patrols unless they are certain of killing the whole patrol. Good fire discipline is particularly important to prevent indiscriminate fire @ patrols or worse still, at imaginary patrols, noise or lights.
This phenomenon of fire discipline can be applied as a theory in our lives. We live in a world where everybody is a soldier fighting his owner. We hustle and bustle every day, and some pretty do it out of control! Man you’ve got to stop simply because you need to get to the top of your career, business, and competition doesn’t mean you need to fire at all times you need fire discipline. Yes! Never give up but sometimes you should know when to quit or re-strategize.
The same to have to go with emotions, every day we meet different kind of people, there are some that exist to just annoy the heck out of you. Just like I said earlier in defence the enemy will say mad things about you, provoke you, step on your nerves all this guys are patrols sent out to draw out the best in you and lose your formation, the best thing to do is to hold your fire. Never react to these provocations. After all when you eat it’s not all that go down your guts that your body need it will have to ignore some of the food to pass them straight down to the asshole.
The same thing goes here, when you are fully motivated beyond measure and you begin to work hard relentlessly, all night you keep reading all morning you listen to your carrier seminars on your phone, all day you work in office, all day you sit at the laptop all day you are always on the social media. Man I have got to tell you that you are just pulling the trigger and you simply have no fire discipline. You will probably run out of ammo, or weapon get jammed or you are have spilled out your best, Mr reader you should know when to work and when to rest, apply simply the fire discipline to your own life and get the real concept of true battles.
Forget about the video games and ignore those crazy movies where by you see that the action is fully bombarded with too much pulling of trigger, sometimes at battlefield there are some moment that everything is bored for the guys and they want some fun but can’t shoot anything. You can also read our post of WATCHING TOO MUCH OF ACTION MOVIES CAN GET YOU KILLED: WAYS MOVIES POTRAY FIRE FIGHT WRONG.

Ask the vets or if you are one I know you understand what am talking about.
In Martial arts you can do 6 weeks’ intense damn workout but the smart money says you should look for rest if not you will wear out your muscles and you will produce fatigue result even the shaolin monks that spent years doing training they also spent years on resting and meditation, athletes also do the same, military men do the same, don’t over work and sometimes know when to work.
However, nothing good comes without a disadvantage, if you can remember the 1998 Beirut barracks bombing became successful for the Islamic sects then because the soldiers present on guard are under the code of fire discipline which caused a catastrophic end simply because the soldiers could not fire at the incoming suicide bombers vehicles –their weapons were locked. Well they were simply acting on orders. Fire discipline as a theory is just like a pill; don’t use paracetamol when an illness requires chemiron. Know when to apply the principle of fire discipline in your life.
I hope you enjoy today words on marble that I draw from military principle, stay updated for more. I remain your top military niche blogger- Afolabi Micheal.
