BEFORE LEAVING HOME
Before applying for the NDA, it is advisable to undergo a medical check-up to determine your fitness level. This will help you to address any medical issues before the Armed Forces Screening Board (AFSB) screening, which is a crucial and challenging part of the selection process.
To prepare for the AFSB, it is recommended to engage in physical exercises such as push-ups, sit-ups, and pull-ups. These exercises will help you to carry your weight while climbing the last rope during the individual obstacle crossing. Jogging regularly will also help you to control your breathing and build your endurance.
Staying up to date with current affairs and studying basic mathematics problems will help you during the aptitude test and engineering, computer science, physics, and mathematics courses. It is also important to quit any drug use, smoking, and alcohol consumption and drink plenty of water to flush toxins from your body.
Ensure that all your credentials are correct and complete, and buy all the necessary items required for the interview. It is better to go with extra items in case of loss or damage. When going for the AFSB, bring provisions such as tea, milk, cornflakes, biscuits, and extra cash.
Lastly, it is important to be friendly and respectful to your fellow candidates, as they may have connections that could help you in the future.Make sure you sleep well before leaving home, afsb will deprive you of sound sleep. There is no peace for the wicked!
REPORTING FOR AFSB
Candidates usually report to the NDA old site in Ribadu, Kaduna, for the AFSB.
Stage 1 Registration: Upon arrival at AFSB, candidates will undergo a search for prohibited items such as phones and sharp objects. It is important to avoid bringing your phone as it will be confiscated in front of you, although some candidates may attempt to smuggle them in. Following the search, you will be asked for your name and NDA officials will verify if your name is on the exam list. You will then be given a chest number for identification purposes, which corresponds to how your name appears on the list. After registration, you will proceed to the Drill Shed for credentials screening and assessment.
Stage 2 Credentials Screening: During this stage, your NECO or WAEC scratch card will be collected. If you don't have a scratch card, you will need to pay for one. You will then be issued a form to fill out with information about your name, exam number, grades, age, and JAMB registration number. You must ensure that all information provided is correct, and that your certificates are complete as this is where your screening begins. All certificates and details will be documented in a file for future reference, and those found guilty of certificate fraud will be disqualified.

You will be presented with shapes, lines, and pictures to analyze and arrange, and will also be asked personal questions. It is important to answer truthfully as this stage determines who you are and what arm of service or course of study is best suited for you.
Stage 4 Medical Test: The medical test is usually conducted at NDA's permanent site in Afaka, with additional tests conducted at the old site in Ribadu. This stage includes various tests such as HIV/AIDS and pregnancy tests for females, and checks for viruses . The most important test during this stage is the B.P. (Blood Pressure) test, which can easily eliminate a candidate if their BP is not within the acceptable range. Other tests include height and weight checks to calculate BMI, dental and eye examinations, physical medical check-ups, and electrocardiogram tests to check heart function and breathing rate.
This stage includes the B.P. test, height and weight checks, dental and eye examinations, physical medical check-ups, and electrocardiogram tests. Any abnormalities in your body or critical issues found during this stage can lead to disqualification.
The B.P Test(Blood Pressure)
This is the most dreaded stage,Sometimes the first Stage of the medical This stage seems easy and simple but it can easily eliminate almost a full state.Medical test from HIV/AIDS/ pregnancy test for ladies to test about current virus like Ebola and Corona Virus will be carried out. For the B.P try and keep your heart calm, avoid thinking much especially from the day you report for AFSB. This B.P test usually is the main factor that disqualifies candidate every RC.
b. Height And Weight
This is another simple but a Technical stage of the Afsb Medical test. This is where your Height and Weight will be checked. If you fall short of the requirement you will be disqualified. A lot of candidates were disqualified also because of Height and Weight. This Height and Weight is use to calculate your BMI(Body Mass Index)

STAGE5 3.2KM RACE
The 3.2km race may make some candidates nervous, but it can be one of the easiest stages if you follow the tips I provided earlier. Endurance is crucial for this race, and you can achieve it by jogging at least three times a week. To succeed, boys must complete the race between 0sec-18mins, while girls must complete it within 0sec-22mins. Running too fast initially is not advisable; instead, try to keep up with the front runners, but don't allow them to create a large gap. It's essential to keep your mouth closed when running and open it slightly when you feel tired, allowing air to penetrate through your mouth and nose to facilitate proper breathing. A yellow plastic card will be issued to you during the race, which will be collected after the race to verify that you followed the correct route and prevent shortcuts.
Stage 6, the Aptitude Test, requires writing an essay and answering objective questions. The objective questions are random and can come from subjects such as mathematics, English, Government, Current Affairs, and other foreign countries' events. You'll receive a single objective answer sheet, followed by a separate sheet of paper for your essay. Questions like "Why do you want to become a military officer?" or "What do you think can stop terrorism in Nigeria?" may be asked. Write what you know and avoid using complicated language, as simple English is best. It's essential to prepare thoroughly before going to AFSB.
Stage 7, the Individual Obstacle Crossing, requires endurance and agility. Make sure to drink plenty of water and exercise before attempting this stage. You'll face ten obstacles, including a red pole that you must jump over without touching, a higher green pole that you must touch with your hand and leg, and crawling under metal wire with your stomach. You'll be scored for each obstacle you successfully cross. Crossing a triangular block while landing on both feet, crossing with a rope without touching the red rope tied across the pole, crossing the Monkey Hand Bridge with only your hands, and jumping over two pits are some of the obstacles. You'll also crawl through eight tunnels and complete the final stage that carries the most score. Female candidates may find some obstacles challenging, but with constant exercise, it's possible to succeed. Red signifies danger, while green is safe.
Stage 8 Group Obstacle Crossing
In this stage, candidates are divided into two or three groups, depending on the number who made it past the elimination stage. While there are multiple group obstacles, only three or four must be completed, including retrieving a rifle, a diamond, and a scroll. These obstacles are technical and require thought. Each team has four minutes to read and understand each obstacle before moving on. A group leader is required to provide directives on the order of activities. It is recommended that candidates actively participate and even act as group leaders for an additional mark. Remember that although your fellow candidates are your competition, team building is essential, and individual differences should not be forgotten.
Stage 9, modeling, is also technical and aims to test a candidate's confidence and ability to provide quick solutions to real-life problems in populated and urbanized areas of Kaduna state. Various toys, colors, and objects represent these problems, such as a car, boat, house, horse, donkey, tricycle, helicopter, human, tree, river, and ambulance. Each candidate selects a piece of paper with a specific problem and must provide a possible solution within four minutes. It is important to understand the problem and visualize the town in the model to provide a clear understanding of the situation. Facing the board or the judgment hour is the final stage where all documents and information are thoroughly assessed. Candidates are called in one at a time and must be honest and confident, answering questions without fear. This stage is where a candidate's destiny is decided, and it is important to maintain composure, concentration, and honesty.
The federal government covers school fees, and candidates are entitled to a monthly stipend. AFSB screening involves fun, stress, competition, and survival of the fittest. Remember that nothing is impossible with hard work and the grace of God. MORALE HIGH: Let me see your comments.

I switched off my camera. Fell to the ground, and started crying. At IBB Square, Makurdi.
ReplyDeleteI am attending the burial ceremony of victims killed by herdsmen.
"We've dug about 70 graves in Adeke village where they will be buried, when done with the ceremony here," the young man behind me says, with a teary voice. Indifferent, this heart of mine.
I look around, hundreds of women crying, awaiting the dead bodies. Again, this heart of mine stays indifferent.
Within the minutes, a wailing ambulance ushers about five coffin-loaded trucks into the square. I brought out my phone, with camera on standby.
20 coffins, I can count on the first truck that drives past. Another 20 coffins on the second truck.
On the third truck, I am seeing small size coffins, of children killed.
That moment, my heart sank into my stomach. And, that was when I switched off my camera. Fell to the ground, and started crying
Me: No community should ever have to go through this.
This is disheartening to say the least. Oh God arise for the sake of Nigeria

ReplyDeletewhen you wake up every morning tell yourself this.
ReplyDelete"I am cadet"
Read hard! Contrary to the stereotype that the military is about godfather, your godfathther is useless if you don't make that list, because the military would never allow itself to be saddled with dull and unintelligent officers.
I have seen good men get into the military, not because they had any special connection, but because they were dedicated and worked hard towards it.
Everything is in your hands, there are hundreds of people if not thousand fighting for a position in the academy.
The question is "How bad do you need it"??
