TOP THINGS YOU DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THE NIGERIA DEFENCE ACADEMY

I will not dwell much about the origin so just click on this link to know more.
requirements rc

1. COMPETITIVE ADMISSION: this is mainly survival of the fittest into the most prestigious academy in Africa, only the best of the best in each seems to pass their exams and even the exam is not enough determinant to determine ones admission as many other screening stages still come during armed forces selection board (click on this link to know more about afsb). Most candidates that secured an admission applied more than once, only few were able to secure the admission once. Some candidates that have applied several times but no fruitful result end up assuming admission is based on connection and fabricate so many stories to the extent that people that are not aspirants believe the admission is based on connection which is not. ©afomicworld2019

2.SOCIAL MEDIA BUZZ: So many cadets display their life in the military and their various social media platforms and display more of the glamour which therefore attracts aspirants to their profile; most cadets get more followers hundreds of friend request. Cadets on social media are known as champions in there sphere, their social media posting sometimes is a real motivating factor to aspirants who sometimes get misconceptions that military life is full of glamour. On social media aspirants hook up with Cadets so as to find a mentor. Although phones are not allowed in the academy except on some occasion but most Cadets risk using it. Cadets that graduate from the academy have to change their Facebook profile to resemble a normal guy Facebook account so as to avoid unending flow of message request from some people and sometimes annoying aspirants. ©afomicworld2019
3. SCAMMERS: The social media of cadets are sometimes fed upon by scammers that imitate a cadets account or a general or a high ranking officer account and pose as a person that want to help one secure and admission into the NDA and its not true. Many have been scammed and many are still being scam. Securing an admission into NDA is not about godfatherism or money involved. ©afomicworld2019
4. VALOR , DISCIPLINE AND ACADEMICS : Cadets are good in this and their academics is of great standard, they are only faced with one cycle which is train-read-sleep-train –read and there is no freedom like in a secular university where you can choose to be distracted. NDA is the most prestigious academy and many other African countries try to emulate them. ©afomicworld2019

5. PLUMMING: a tradition considered illegal, is a confidence test done outside the institution where cadets stay in front of a busy highway and stop all vehicles to snap pictures and no one using the road dares challenge them,‘Plumming 101’, is seen as a rite of passage.  ©afomicworld2019

6. CADETS LIFE: It’s never an easy one no matter the level of glamour being displayed on social media, cadets life is not easy. Sleep is not a treasure and all termer one (fresher) cadets are made to suffer judiciously in the hands of senior ones. Cadets do die most in training while few during torture in the hands of their senior ones. Cadets need Pass to leave the academy, no holidays, only 3 times every quarter do cadets go for break. Cadets are not burden with financial issues as government is taking care of everything they need, no tuition fee  at all is paid by cadets, they are paid by the government some stipends depending on their level (termer). DSSC Direct short service meant for university graduates seems to be hell for the cadets involved because they are grown-ups with mostly no military experience except NYSC most of them are so comfortable with civilian life and adapting to a military life after a long time is a problem for the instructors. NDA is often confused with India National Academy which is due to the fact that the Nigeria Defense Academy was modeled after the National Defense Academy India ©afomicworld2019

7. EMPLOYMENT: Cadets on completion of their program are automatically awarded a presidential commission into their arm of service. They belong to the category of Commissioned officers (CO) to co-ordinate the NCO (NON-commissioned officer). For this reason most aspirants see NDA as an opportunity to escape the labor market which is overcrowded, they see it as an opportunity to give themselves an assurance of a future JOB which may not be possible in a civilian university. ©afomicworld2019

8. APPLICATION:
every year over 5000 applicants apply for NDA and selection varies depending on the demand of the academy each year which may varies. Most applicants go for NAVY in a bid to escape ARMY commissioning which may involve being posted to the north to fight terrorism as the country is still at war with a terrorist called Boko haram. Most war casualty is from the army and Air force. Very rare casualty from the NAVY although it’s also fighting water pirates but this on a low key. However Army has the largest intake as it’s more required of by the NDA. NDA rarely release statistics of applicants publicly. Females too are allowed into the academy .©afomicworld2019

9. RELIGION: Cadets don’t joke with religion, it’s their foundation and assurance of life if practiced well, their work demand life and death an only Religion have answer to that, for the Muslims there is the mosque, for the Christian there is the chaplain.©@afomicworld2019
10. DISCHARGE OF DUTIES: dynamic and discipline dressing is enough to see NDA cadets charisma, they appear too good than you imagine, after their completion of education at the Academy, Cadets exhibit great deal of loyalty and valor in discharge of their duties, and they have been serving Nigeria with great professionalism. Nigeria defence academy is truly a home for heroes. Thanks for reading I am Afolabi Micheal Pls add your contribution to the comment section so don’t forget to like and share.©@afomicworld2019.
